Tribute to Rolf Sambale
Liens sans Frontières | 25 September 2010The association would like to pay tribute the Haitian artist Rolf Sambale who died on Wednesday, July 28, 2010. Some of his work can be seen on http://www.rolfsambale.com
A few months before his death, on the occasion of Mother’s Day, Rolf had offered one of his paintings to produce cards for Liens sans Frontières. It was one of his many gestures of solidarity to our association, particularly our efforts to help the children of Haiti.
Just like his works of art, Rolf Sambale embodied integrity and this was also reflected in the mutual bonds of trust with our association that sprung up and took root so spontaneouslyand were nourished by friendship and respect.
We shared his exile; he offered us a piece of his homeland. In the disarray of his country, he entrusted us his home in Port au Prince, a refuge in the catastrophe.
A true artist, Rolf was in tune with all that was simple and authentic. He believed in life and stood firm against injustice.
All of us at Liens sans Frontières wish to pay warm tribute to Rolf, his compatriots, his colleagues in the art world, his friends, family and children.
His links with Liens sans Frontières have bolstered the commitment of each one of us to the children of Haiti that we are pledged to helping, just like Rolf’s paint brushes, with unfettered strokes of empathy and humanity.
